This is an era in which social values are measured by the spirit of entertainment. Entertainment has become the “best-selling healthcare product,” a kind of multivitamin, that prevents one from aging socially. I could go on, but I would take a short pause first, because besides taking vitamins every day, I also take something else, and I’m waiting for its side effects.
In 2004 Wu Yandan (Artistic name nunu kong) graduated from a unique 4-year program (the only comprehensive contemporary dance program ever in China) founded by Yang Mei Qi at the Beijing Dance Academy, She began her choreographic career with the Shanghai-based experimental performance collective Zuhe Niao which she co-founded in 2005, with their first physical theater piece-Tongue’s Memory of Home which successfully captured the ZKB Patronage Prize at the Theaterspektakel in Zurich in 2oo6.
