Vilnis Auziņš   //   [dis]information

[dis]information, upto 2015

Photography

The problem I am considering in these works is the fact that we create conditions that change the way we see the world – and that is a process, change is a movement, and change is itself, dynamic. Often unknown factors create extra changes and contribute to this movement – for example, the way we experience the world from public transportation. The scratches and other information on the windows deform our understanding of the other side. These scratches affect everyone’s individual way of seeing, perceiving, their memories and personal history combine with this deformation to create something else. A similar process has become a tool of both global [dis]information (the way we portray the world) – the distortion of reality portrayed as a representation of it, leads to a deformation of a huge number of people’s consciousnesses – and yet, it’s still an objective reality of a certain period of time as experienced by those people.
