Babel Me   Exhibiting Artist & Artwork

Liu Zhen   //   Big Corn

Big Corn, 2015

Installation

2.5 x 1 x 1 m
The work Big Corn is intended to express feelings about architecture in the real contemporary cities and to do a self-interpretation of architecture though the symbol of corn. In the process of creation, kernels were welded one by one, and then polished repeatedly to give a mirror effect. The kernels of different shapes have different reflections of the surroundings; they represent the artist’s anxiety and depression about the urban architectures and also the reflections on the contemporary cities.
Liu Zhen (born in 1970, Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province) graduated from Suzhou Art&Design Technology Institute in 1990 and had further education in Department of Fresco, China Central Academy of Fine Art. He is a professional artist and now lives in Shanghai. His works, mainly paintings, installations and sculptures, express his feelings about the time being. Especially the installations, they directly reflect realities and bring about strong visual effects.
