Artwork Manuals
A print on aluplate of the historic painting Cross in the Mountains by Caspar David Friedrich corresponded with an egg as an object placed in front of the print on a simple curtain rod. Part of the upcoming thoughts are questions about the origin of mankind. The creation of god versus the evolution process. The mix of picture and object makes this conflict of faith visible. A picture is part of a world of imagination, an object is based on reality. The perspective on our world is in the same time the basis for our approach concerning the responsibility to our environment. If god created mankind, are humans responsible for what they are doing or is all of this part of the will of god?
This object is part of the body of work called art-articles, an art project by Konstantin Bayer. The art works shown on the accompanying website, www.art-articles.com, are made exclusively from Amazon products, which after being ordered in the form of a shopping cart, are delivered to your home being ready to be constructed by yourself using a construction manual provided by the artist. The limitation and authenticity is verified by a certificate of authenticity, which is personally, sent to you by post by the artist after you have sent a picture of the finished product via email. The necessary order also requires the building tools. Now it‘s your turn! Get up close with the materials, take part and share in the production process and be aware of each work. This claimed participation by the collector necessitates a new depth of intellectual and sensory experience achieved while realizing the work by yourself. At the same time, however, questions arise about the singularity of the artwork, the authorship and value-added processes of the art market, our disposable society and environmental awareness. Next to this Konstantin Bayer asks the question about a resolution of the concept of art?
